Privacy policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

Athan by Yalabeena shows prayer times, the qibla direction and prayer alerts on phones, tablets and computers. It is free, has no account or sign-in, shows no ads and contains no analytics or tracking code. This page explains the little data the app uses and where it goes.

What stays on your device

Location

Location is optional: you can pick a city instead. If you allow it, your device's location is used on the device to work out prayer times and the qibla direction. To show the name of the place, the app sends the approximate coordinates to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service; when you search for a city, it sends the text you typed. Nominatim's own privacy policy applies to those requests.

Our server

To list the cities of a country, the app asks the Yalabeena server (api.yalabeena.com) for that country's list, sending only the country code. Like any web server, it keeps standard request logs (such as the IP address and time) for security and reliability. Nothing in these requests identifies you or is linked to an account.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or for training AI. Links in the app to yalabeena.com only open our website and tell it that you came from Athan.

Notifications

Prayer alerts are scheduled on your device. No push service or server is involved.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Deleting your data

Everything the app keeps is on your device. Uninstalling the app removes it.

Changes

If the app starts to use data in a new way, we will update this page and its date before that version is released.
